Quality parameters

The quality indicators of natural gas, in accordance with national regulations.

The quality parameters are established in accordance with Decision no. 420 of 22.11.2019 of the National Energy Regulatory Agency on the approval of the Natural Gas Network Code.

The quality parameters, physico-chemical indicators and characteristics of natural gas are established in accordance with the quality standards approved by the national standardisation body, referred to in point 26 of the Natural Gas Network Code. The determination of the quality parameters for natural gas delivered into/from networks is carried out under the conditions laid down in the Code, in the interconnection agreements and in the operating agreements between the parties.

The quality parameters of natural gas are mandatorily specified in the operating agreements at the interconnection point and in the supply contracts. The upstream system operator is responsible for complying with the quality requirements at the delivery points. The determination of the parameters at the entry points into the transmission network is carried out with online chromatographs and hygrometers, recording hourly values.

Parameters at the entry/exit points

  • Lower and higher calorific value (kWh/m³)
  • Higher Wobbe index (kWh/m³)
  • Admissible deviation of the Wobbe index from the nominal value
  • Mass concentration of hydrogen sulphide (g/m³)
  • Mass concentration of sulphur from mercaptans (g/m³)
  • Volume fraction of oxygen (%)
  • Mass of mechanical impurities per 1 m³ (g)
