Rules for the safe use of natural gas, to prevent accidents and damage.

In case of emergency

Do you smell gas? Close the valves, ventilate and call the Technical Dispatch Service: 904

National Power Corp reminds you of the safety measures for using natural gas in the residential sector, in order to prevent accidents, casualties and material damage. Owners are responsible for the integrity and good condition of the gas-consuming appliances in privately owned dwellings, in accordance with Government Decision no. 552 of 12 July 2017.

Users' obligations

  • Be trained at the technical offices or study the instructions for the appliances.
  • Maintain the integrity and proper functioning of the equipment.
  • Check the draught of the flues and ventilation before and during use.
  • Close the valves after using gas.
  • Immediately turn off the burners if the gas supply is unexpectedly interrupted and notify the Technical Dispatch Service.
  • Allow access to authorised representatives for inspections and repairs.

It is prohibited

  • Carrying out unauthorised works, modifications or repairs on the gas installations.
  • Reconfiguring rooms containing gas installations or modifying the construction of the appliances and the exhaust/ventilation systems.
  • Blocking the ventilation channels or disconnecting the automatic protection systems.
  • Using faulty appliances or appliances with expired verification certificates.
  • Leaving appliances running unattended (except automatic ones) or allowing them to be used by children or untrained persons.
  • Using the gas cooker for heating, sleeping in rooms with gas installations or detecting leaks with an open flame.

If you smell gas

Inside the dwelling

  • Immediately stop using gas and close all the valves.
  • Open the windows for ventilation.
  • Call the Technical Dispatch Service on 904.
  • Do not light a fire, do not smoke, do not operate electrical switches and do not ring the doorbell.

In communal areas

  • Notify the Technical Dispatch Service.
  • Evacuate people from the affected areas.
  • Prevent the operation of electrical devices and open flames.
  • Ventilate until the intervention team arrives.
